And speaking of giving, we are committed to giving back to our customers’ more and more as we grow in our mission to help our people Dream Again. This mission is more than just a marketing slogan or about helping people find deep restorative sleep without the pain points of wearing a CPAP mask. “Dream Again” is also a desire to help people look at their future with the vision and hope and purpose that God can provide—just like he did for us. When my wife was diagnosed with severe OSA (Obstructive Sleep Apnea) in 2008, we had lots of dreams for our lives, just like today. But her diagnosis felt like a literal and figurative throat punch to the wind in our sails. In fact, we were in a desperate spot. When the housing market suddenly crashed, so too did our construction company of over 30 years. Our finances were in shambles with debt piling up to our eyeballs. And to make matters worse, we couldn’t even get a good night’s sleep! I remember crying out to God in the middle of the night for help…
And just like God, who always answers our prayers in his perfect timing, he also answered another prayer at the same time. It’s a prayer I’ve been praying for what feels like my whole adult life—to invent something that could help millions of people with the help of my family. As a family of faith, we’ve always hoped that God would allow us to help others in a big way. I remember one day when my second oldest son was 14, he came to me and said, “Dad, do you think God would give us a lot of money so we could help people?” I said, “I don’t know but we can ask him!” And so that began a season of gathering all the kids around our bed every night to ask God to fulfill big dreams. And while we’re not there yet, we’ve begun to see the seeds of that faith begin to sprout in several small ways.
One of those ways is that we’re delighted to offer financial scholarships for those with sleep apnea who are experiencing extreme financial hardship.
