How It Works
Did you know RemZzzs® was born in the middle of the night from the desperate need for lasting comfort and success? Yeah, and unlike most sleep “experts”, we actually wear CPAP ourselves, every gosh-darn night! So with that in mind, there’s a few things we’re about to say that you’re not likely to hear from the doctors or the clinicians of the world…
And that’s because RemZzzs® helps with all of the most common CPAP mask issues. You may be wondering, “then why didn’t my DME or sleep therapist tell me about it?” Well, it’s a great question. One we’ve asked ourselves MANY times over the last 15 years. And we’ve heard a lot of opinions too, but to answer that question honestly, we’d have to blow the whistle so-to-speak on some of the industry’s all too common—but bad—professional talking points. (Sorry doc!)…
Alrighty. First things first. Ultimately, our product simply exists to build healthy relationships between CPAP users and the life-saving equipment they rely on every night. We love this industry because it’s saving millions of lives around the world every year. And we’re part of those millions. (You can read Our Story here). But unfortunately, there also exists a larger narrative that’s become standard language amongst most of the sleep doctors, DME’s and mask manufacturers out there today.
And hey, we get it— Change can be really hard for some folks and familiarity has a way of feeling right. Kinda like Dad and those jokes he’s been telling everyone everywhere for the last 30+ years. We’ve heard ‘em so much it’s almost like that one time I walked into a bar, and the bartender said, “Look out!” See what I mean!? I’m now telling Dad jokes. Because Dad just won’t stop getting his narrative out there to as many people as possible. And that’s kind of what the old-timers in the Sleep Apnea industry have been doing for decades too.
So what kind of things do they say? If you’ve been around CPAP for a bit, you’ve probably heard it yourself. “Your mask leaks because you don’t have a good FIT.” But once you find a good fit, “you need to wash your mask and your face every night so you don’t break the seal of your cushion.” And speaking of “cushion” what a comfortable sounding word! I mean, I love rubber cushions on my couch, and the petroleum-based pillowcase I lay my sweet soft cheeks on every night. And don’t forget the silicone bedsheets I love using when I want a good nights’ rest in the summer months. What was I talking about?
Oh yes, COMFORT. I can’t think of anything more comfortable than tightening a CPAP mask down on my sweaty sensitive skin for 6-8 hours every single night! Because everyone knows, THE MOST IMPORTANT THING for your cpap THERAPY is; say it with me—To get. The right. FIT! Right? …Riiiight… Ok. But here’s something that does make sense: Mask makers, make masks. Fun fact. And by that we mean, they make a new mask every year… in the sense that they make money by making more masks… and more masks, and more masks. and more masks, and more masks. You get the point. Sure, they’ve got better bits and bobbies. Better bells, whistles, and doohickies galore.
But here’s the catch. If history has shown us anything, it’s that human skin prefers to cover its most sensitive areas with petro-chemical materials like plastic, silicone, rubber, and memory foam. No. Wait. No, sorry, that’s what mask cushions are made of… Real humans prefer cotton. “BUT WAIT” I hear you say, “I have to wash my face every night to make my skin blisteringly dry so my mask doesn’t leak”, right? Because the rubber has to stay on my skin all night for it to work, right? No, actually. Unfortunately, that’s another one of those “bad advice” ideas still running around. In fact, silicone masks leak precisely BECAUSE they’re touching your skin, making you hot and sweaty and irritated all night. Have you ever stuck tape to a wet balloon in a wind tunnel? Neither have we. Sleep experts on the other hand… Ahh, but I digress.
Go ahead, call us crazy. We think the best advice about what works and what doesn’t work with CPAP therapy comes from the same people who don’t just wear their mask all night, every night, but actually kind of like it!? WHAAT!? That’s right! Because after 14+ years, 12 patents, 19 countries, and 45 million liners shipped around the world, here’s a few truth-bombs for your CPAP woes:
Stop washing your mask (as often).
RemZzzs cotton liners go between your face and your mask so they never touch. Your skin will thank you and your mask stays cleaner for longer. You’re welcome.
Loosen your straps!
RemZzzs creates a better softer seal than your silicone cushion because cotton fibers fill in the gaps where air escapes from hard flat surfaces like plastic. Since your mask will leak less, you can loosen your straps significantly without losing performance.
Use some lotion for heaven’s sake!
Your face doesn’t need to look like the salt flats of Utah. RemZzzs® soaks up the natural sweat and oil on your face throughout the night and keeps your face from drying out. It’s literally a no-brainer.
To mustache, or not to mustache?
Who cares?! RemZzzs® works with facial hair too because the cotton creates a flexible fabric seal to trap air leaks before they start. No Shave November, here we come.
For all you who skipped to the bottom, you’re missed one heck of a rant. But suffice it to say, here’s the bottom line: Most CPAP masks are made from plastic and silicone. RemZzzs® mask liners are made from a special blend of breathable, soft, hypoallergenic cotton that comfortably forms to fit all face types while actively reducing noisy and annoying air leaks, rash, bacteria build up, skin issues, and overall discomfort. To put it simply, there’s a reason you don’t wear plastic pajamas to bed… and that’s why RemZzzs® works too. But if you’re still not convinced, you’re in luck. Try RemZzzs® tonight for only $1 and let yourself dream again like the rest of our happy customers!
